WELL DYING FOR WELL BEING
A POP-UP RESTAURANT TO PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY TO TALK ABOUT DEATH OPENLY AS A SOCIAL AWARENESS.
Although modern society has accepted many sensitive topics as norms, death is still considered as a negative subject and conversationaly taboo to most people. Over half a million people die each year in UK, yet 70% have not discussed their own end of life wishes with their partner, family, friends or health/social care professionals in advance.
This strange restaurant aims to raise awareness and create opportunities of informal conversation about death with family or friends. The restaurant is picked as a medium to build this conversation due to food’s fundamental place in our lives as a communicational magnet. The restaurant serves a 6 course meal to relate to our life timeline; “BIRTH”, “CHILDHOOD”, “TEENAGE”, “ADULTHOOD”, ”RETIREMENT” and “DEATH”. This project is not focusing on only designing a product, but also making this conceptual restaurant a symbolic service to organise a conversation around death.
A 2 IN 1 PRODUCT TO MAKE SCOOTER MORE VISIBLE AND EASY TO CARRY
In urban spaces like London, we already have some options to commute such as tube, bus , bicycle, and walking. Scooters have the potential to become the new urban mobility means for commuting. However, there still seems to be a stigma for adults using scooters and they need to become more socially acceptable. There is an opportunity to design an accessory for scooter to make it more socially acceptable.
Micr-O Light resolves 2 different issues of Micro scooter; scooters sharing pavements with pedestrians and carrying the scooter in narrow spaces such as the tube station, bus, up the stairs and so on. Micr-O light has 2 functions which are as a light mounted on handle bar and as a mud guard holder for easy carrying and pulling the scooter when it is folded.
