AN OPENING MECHANISM FOR CARTONS THAT INDICATES IF THE PRODUCT HAS BEEN OPEN TOO LONG, HELPING TO MINIMISE FOOD WASTE.
The UK throws away 7 billion tonnes of food and drink every year, over half of which is avoidable. I wanted to help minimise this waste in my self-initiated project. I looked specifically at single-person households as they are increasing in the UK and they produce far more waste proportionally to other households. A comment that many people mentioned during the research process is that they often throw away food before they should as they don’t know how long it has been open. Mylk Saver is an opening mechanism with a time indicator that is activated upon opening the carton. When the indicator strip turns pink the product has been open too long and needs to be thrown away.
POP-UP PUBLIC PHONE CHARGING FURNITURE CREATING ENGAGEMENT WITH ID MOBILE FROM PREVIOUSLY INACCESSIBLE DEMOGRAPHICS.
Following the current trend for pop-up food markets Juice Bar is a public charging point and set of furniture that would tour towns and cities in the UK during the summer. Powered by solar panels and selling freshly-made juices it’s good for you and the planet. It’s accessible for everyone. Free wifi for 15 minutes upon registering with the iD mobile website and a representative manning the juice stall create a dialog around the network provider. With being disruptive in mind, iD Juice Bar aims to challenge people’s opinions and expectations of what a virtual network operator is.
